What Does Your Furry Look Like?
Furry fans prepare for a race at Midwest FurFest 2006
It's not as dirty as you think, but it is probably weirder than you think. I stumbled across this XKCD comic and started digging only to find the picture above on a wikipedia article about the subject. Being into anime I have definitely heard of Cosplay (Costume Play, where you dress up as your favorite anime characters), and I have heard of furries (albeit in a different context) as well. It just that...well just read the xkcd strip.

The Uncanny Valley
This is an awesome concept and I am pretty surprised I have only recently heard about it. Everyone on some level has probably experienced this, especially with the advent of specialty/more life like robots.

Hypothesized emotional response of human subjects is plotted against anthropomorphism of a robot, following Mori's statements. The uncanny valley is the region of negative emotional response towards robots that seem "almost human". Movement amplifies the emotional response.
